Testimonials

Here's what some of our former pupils had to say about us:

Daniel Foran

My name is Daniel and in 2007 I joined Teach Test Tuition. Throughout my time there I found all the tests and papers very helpful. When we got there I thought that it was going to be a boring experience but I was proved wrong!!! During the many weeks I stayed there I made lots of friends and every week we had loads of fun whilst learning lots of important information.

On the course we did 4 subjects Maths, literacy/comprehension, verbal reasoning and nonverbal reasoning. We had two tutors who were approachable and always willing to help and solve any problems we might encounter. They both had experience of teaching at a grammar school level and because of this we had a clear idea of what standards we would be expected to achieve.

At Teach Test Tuition we were given an assortment of papers from different secondary schools all around the country, so when I sat the test I felt confident that I wouldn't come across anything unexpected.

In conclusion I found that Teach Test Tuition really helped me along the way to succeed in gaining a place at my first choice grammar school!!!

Alka Nagar

I found Test Teach Tuition very helpful because it built up my confidence and encouraged me to do very well in my tests.

Amit & Anjali Nagar

Our daughter was aiming for a different set of schools than most other children in the class. The fact that you were able to pay attention towards her individual needs was incredible. Thank you for all your support and help. We would whole-heartedly recommend Test Teach Tuition to any parents considering selective tests / grammar school options for their child.

Harry Rogers

The Tuition group was extremely helpful, without it's help I don't think I would have been able to succeed in my 11+ tests.
The tutors were very helpful as they went over anything I didn't understand. The practice tests were challenging which helped to prepare me for the 11+ tests.
Being in a group really helped , because we were able to discuss the answers.

Jay Patel

I really enjoyed the tuition, and was inspired by the motivation and
enthusiasm shown by the tutors and organisers. They put my mind at ease
from day one, and did their best to bring out the best in me. The
participants provided a very competitive environment, and you had no
choice but to get on with it. The tuition was tailor made for grammar
schools in the area, which went a long way in helping me succeed.

Curriculum

Our curriculum includes all four 11+ subjects but not every course we offer covers them all. This is due to the fact that entrance exams vary in different areas. For more details visit our courses section.
Every subject area is divided into 3 units.

Verbal Reasoning

Verbal Reasoning questions are about words. They aim to test the candidate's language skills and vocabulary.

  • Literacy Questions
  • Vocabulary Questions
  • Numeracy Questions

Non Verbal Reasoning

These questions are designed to assess the candidate's raw intellectual ability, independent of their knowledge of English. Similar to IQ tests, these papers ask children to reason with pictures, diagrams and codes.

  • Isomorphic Relationships
  • Analogic Relationships
  • Serial Relationships

Maths

11+ maths tests are completely different from the kind of maths exams that students experience at school. Instead of simply demonstrating the ability to remember key skills, candidates are expected to actively use these skills to solve complicated worded problems.

  • Number
  • Shape, Space & Measurements
  • Data Handling

English

11+ English exams generally consist of two sections: comprehension and composition (reading & writing!). Schools look for accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar and a wide vocabulary. In comprehension, the ability to extract subtle and inferred meanings from a given passage is important, as is the skill of embedding quotes in a written response. Composition looks at a candidate's talent for creative writing, the ability to structure an extended essay and whether or not they can produce an appropriate form of writing for the question.

  • Comprehension
  • Composition
  • Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar

Why Test Teach?

We specialise in 11 plus tuition. Our approach is based solely on developing a pupil's confidence in their own ability. We want the benefits of our courses to extend beyond the classroom and parental involvement is consequently something we also strive for. Our syllabus covers Verbal Reasoning, Non Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. The course is specifically designed to prepare children for entrance exams to either grammar schools or independent schools.
